Updated: Oct 30, 2023

Introduction:

Popovers, also known as Yorkshire puddings in the UK, are delightful, airy, and golden-brown treats that make the perfect addition to any meal. They're like a cross between a muffin and a pancake, with a hollow center just waiting to be filled with gravy, roasted meats, or your favorite savory sauce. Today, I'm excited to share with you my tried-and-true popover recipe that will have you baking up these delicious puffs of perfection in no time.

Ingredients:

- 11/2 cups all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon salt

- 3 large eggs

- 11/2 cups whole milk

- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C.

  • In a food processor or blender, crack open eggs, milk, flour, salt and blend for 30 seconds.

  • Melt butter in microwave or double boiler and pour in the blender and blend for 15 seconds.

  • Add few drops of melted butter or any neutral vegetable oil in the pan to grease, and pour the batter into the greased cups, filling them about 2/3 full.

  • Place the pan back into the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes at 200°C, or until the popovers have puffed up and another 10 minutes at 170°C until they are golden brown.

  • Popovers are best served immediately while they're still warm and puffy. They are perfect as a side dish for a Sunday roast or as an accompaniment to your favorite gravy, soups or just eat it plain with some softened butter.

  • Enjoy your delicious, freshly baked popovers, and revel in their crispy, hollow perfection!

Tips and Variations:

1. For a savory twist, you can add herbs or grated cheese to the batter for extra flavor.

2. Yorkshire puddings are traditionally served with a roast dinner, but they're versatile and can be enjoyed with various dishes.

3. Make sure your oven is preheated

4. Allow the batter to rest for about 30 minutes (though this step is not necessary if used blender or processor to make the batter)

With this easy-to-follow recipe, you can create your own batch of golden-brown, savory puffs to impress your family and guests.
