After soaking up the sun in Krabi Town, we boarded an evening bus headed to Khao Sok — Thailand’s magical rainforest.

The bus ride was comfortable and took around 3-4 hours. As the sun dipped behind the hills, we arrived at the sleepy village near the park. We checked into a small, no-frills BnB called Brick— surrounded by green, frogs croaking in the distance, and the promise of adventure in the air.

We slept like babies, and woke up and got ready for the day and headed for breakfast. Breakfast was simple — toast, fruits and veggies, and eggs, served, No better way to fuel up for the day ahead.

Then, it was time to hit Khao Sok National Park.
The Trek:
We chose one of the popular trails — a 3 km hike (one way) into the depths of the park. Not too hard, not too easy. Just right. The kind of trail where the deeper you go, the more you forget your worries.

We walked under a canopy of towering trees, crossed bridges over gentle streams, and listened to cicadas and birds harmonize. Every breath felt cleaner, every step lighter. The rainforest seemed to speak reminding us how refreshing it is to just be present.

No phones. No rush. Just nature doing its thing.
What made it unforgettable?
It wasn’t the length of the trek or the views (though those were stunning). It was how still everything felt — like the forest was pressing pause on the chaos of the outside world.

By the end of the 6-kilometer round trip, we weren’t tired. We were alive. Khao Sok didn’t just give us a trek. It gave us a reset. A reminder of how good it feels to disconnect, slow down, and let nature do its healing thing. By the time we returned to the park gate, sweaty and smiling, we were recharged. Not tired — healed.

Quick Travel Tips:
Getting there: Take a direct bus or minivan from Krabi Town. Book early in the day if you can!
Stay: Choose a guesthouse near the park entrance. Many offer jungle-style bungalows that are quiet and affordable.
What to bring for the trek: Water, light snacks, mosquito repellent, a poncho (it is a rainforest!), and good shoes.
Park timings: Usually opens around 8 AM. There’s an entrance fee — carry cash.
P.S. Don’t forget your camera!
After the trek, we indulged in a Thai massage (to know more about Thai Massage click here.) at Detre that completely revived us and soothed our aching muscles. We had reserved a spot at a high-end massage parlour, and the skilled therapists clearly knew their craft. By the end of our two-hour session, we freshened up with a shower and change of clothes, feeling completely relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready to return to the lives we had temporarily put on hold.
